Housing Authority of the City of Tatum, Texas

Established in 1981, the Housing Authority of the City of Tatum, provides safe and affordable housing for qualified, low-income persons residing in the Tatum, Texas area. The Housing Authority is a public corporation duly organized and validly existing under the United States Housing Act of 1937 (42 U.S.C. 1401, et. seq.) and the Department of Housing and Urban Development Act (5 U.S.C 624).

The Tatum Housing Authority is governed by a five-member Board of Commissioners, each appointed to their position by the Mayor of the City of Tatum.

The Housing Authority of the City of Beckville, Texas, was established in 1970 and provides safe and affordable housing for qualified, low-income persons residing in the Beckville, Texas area. The Housing Authority is a public corporation duly organized and validly existing under the United States Housing Act of 1937 (42 U.S.C. 1401, et. seq.) and the Department of Housing and Urban Development Act (5 U.S.C 624).

The Beckville Housing Authority is governed by a five-member Board of Commissioners, each appointed to their position by the Mayor of the City of Beckville.

PRIMARY OPERATIONS FOR TATUM & BECKVILLE HOUSING AUTHORITIES

The United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) as outlined under the United States Housing Act of 1937 and subsequent amendments, has a direct responsibility for administering low-income housing programs in the United States. As such, the Housing Authorities of Tatum and Beckville have entered into various annual contracts (“ACC”) with HUD to provide significant funding for various housing programs.
